Passacaglia Octet
Op. 8 (2018) for brass octet

The term passacaglia refers to a style of piece dating back to the 17th century and usually includes a repetitive bass line throughout the work. In a play on the definition, this passacaglia utilizes a repetitive chord sequence through each variation. However, in another twist, each repetition raises the entire chord sequence one half step, eventually returning to the original 'key' for the 13th and final variation.
